YHS Tail Guard-Pigs have a tendency to bite each other’s tails when in confined spaces. Once a pig has tasted blood the animal is then a carnivore. If a pigs tail has been bitten and damaged the animal cannot then be sold to slaughter and is then surplus to requirements for this use. Tail biting outbreaks can happen at any time and ca not be predicted, causing damage to livestock.
YHS – Tail Guard is a specially formulated liquid that is sprayed directly onto pig tails to help discourage biting, chewing in pigs. The formulation contains bitter ingredients, giving an extremely repulsive but harmless taste, designed to discourage such behaviour. The product has a red dye added so the user can see where it has been applied. Also incorporated within the product is a thickening agent which when applied to the pig, the product sticks to them to give it a lasting effect.
The product is a preventative measure to be used once the piglets are removed from the mother; this installs the preventative measure to elevate the problem before it starts. The product should be reapplied if tail biting reoccurs if this happens, spray the effected animals again and throughout the life of the pigs. This gives the user peace of mind that the herd can then be taken to slaughter with the prospect of damaged animals subjected to tail biting has been significantly reduced. YHS – Tail Guard is easily applied through the spray applicator onto the pigs tails. Spray liberally to the affected area ensuring good overall coverage. Spray between 8-12 pumps per pig. Spray each effected pig in the morning and again in the afternoon, to achieve the best results, continue spray process if necessary.
